Yoga Equipment (Blocks)

ABOUT JULIE

I first found yoga over 15 years ago at a small yoga studio in Ann Arbor, MI. There was instantly something about the practice that resonated. Initially uncoordinated, I started to develop balance, alignment, and the tiniest bit of grace moving through the postures.

Over the years, I tried to balance a corporate marketing career with motherhood. I found that my yoga practice - however short - was the only time my anxious mind was calm. I slowly realized that the asana (physical) practice was not a competition to master every pose. Instead, it is more about the intentional placement and action of the body.

As I learned to listen to my body, I began to free myself from expectations of what a pose should look like and what I “should” be able to do. I now readily reach for equipment (yoga blocks, straps, blankets) or choose a different posture to protect my muscles and joints.

For me, yoga strengthens and centers my body, allowing me to breathe deeply amidst the swirl happening around and inside me.  This led me to train to be a yoga teacher. I want to help others experience what yoga unlocks for them: improved health, greater strength, deeper contentment, or simply feeling better in their own skin.

I believe in a joy-infused yoga practice, where every body feels supported for wherever they are in their yoga journey.  I’m so glad you’re here, and I look forward to practicing with you. Namaste.
